Winter Storm Season is here!

Make sure you are prepared

As many of you remembers, we have had some very bad Ice Storms over the last few years, leaving many without electricity, gas, and many other important resources. In the event that this occurs this winter, our team will be out working with other local, state, and federal agencies doing everything we can to provide assistance to the residents of Newton County, MO and the surrounding area. You can help as well by making sure you and your family have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and that everyone in for family knows what to do in an emergency. Check our "Safety & Preparedness" section for information on how to be prepared. Put together your disaster kit. Build your EAP and practice your plan on a regular basis so everyone can keep it fresh in their minds.
When winter storms are forcasted, make sure you have everything ready, especially blankets, flashlights, and everything else as part of you disaster kit. Utilities can easily be out for several days as we all know from before, so make sure you are ready. Also, please remember that when everything becomes icy, if you must get out, use extreme caution both walking and driving as everything will be slick difficult to walk and drive on.

Be sure to check out our "Safety & Preparedness" section for more information about how to prepared for the dangers of Winter Storms!

In addition to the resources in our "Safety & Preparedness" section, you can also check out FEMA's Winter Storm and Cold Weather section on their website
